Outlook Anywhere - Without VPN (RCP over HTTP)
Step 1:
Open Outlook 2007 - Outlook 2007 Startup will open. Click Next
Step 2:
The user will then be asked if they want to configure an email account. Click Yes and then click Next.
Step 3:
The user will then be prompted to add a new email account, Do not enter information in the boxes above. (Slide 1)Click “Manually Configure server settings or additional server types” This will “grey out” all the other options.(Slide 2) Click Next
Step 4:
The user will now need to select the email server. Click Microsoft Exchange and then Click Next
Step 5:
The user will now need to enter the server settings.
Server Name: UFEXCH-MBXCL02.ad.ufl.edu
-select Cached Exchange Mode
User Name: The client's name (i.e. Gator, Albert)
-this will be different with each user
Then click Next
In order to get your Microsoft Exchange server name you will need to login to mail.ufl.edu and find your server name on your account.

Go to mail.ufl.edu
-
Click the icon labeled “Outlook Web Access”
-Login to Outlook Web Access
-
Once logged in, click Options (in the upper right and corner)![]()
-Then on the left hand side of the page click About![]()
-When you are in the “About Outlook Web Access” menu you will see the following:.
Step 7:
- You will need to look for the line titled “Mailbox Server Name” and that will be your Microsoft Exchange Server for Outlook

Example: UFEXCH-MBXCL02.ad.ufl.edu
- Once you have entered your server name you will need to enter your username name
Example: Gator
- Once you have entered your username you will need to click the More Settings button
Step 8:
Within the Connection window, click Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP and click Exchange Proxy Settings
Step 9:
Within the Exchange Proxy Settings window, enter the following settings:
Connection settings:
Type under Connection Settings: https://mail.ufl.edu
Check: “only connect to proxy servers that have this principal name in their certificate”
Type: msstd:mail.ufl.edu
Check: On fast networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP
Check: On slow networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP
Change: Proxy authentication settings to “BASIC AUTHENTICATION”
Click OK to proceed
Step 11:
Once this has been completed you will need to click Ok to exit out of the Proxy Settings Window and the More settings window.
Once you have exited the Proxy Settings window and the More settings window will receive and error message prompting you to restart outlook. DO NOT RESTART your computer, just click OK and proceed

Step 12:
Once you have clicked ok, Outlook will then ask your username and password
It should be as follows:
UFAD\username
Password
Once completed click OK
Step 13:
Once you have entered your username and password Outlook will search the Global Address List for your name. Outlook will then return a list of names that match the description you entered (Example: Gator)
Step 14:
Once you have found your name (Example: Gator, Albert) click OK
If you have entered all the information correctly, both the username and the Microsoft Exchange Server will now be underlined
Step 15:
Once the information is verified, click Next and your setup will be complete.
