Quota Management & E-mail Message Traces
Quota Management
User mailboxes will have assigned quotas that will be based on usage.
Storage Quotas:
- Issue Warning - 80%
- Prohibit Send - 90%
- Prohibit Send & Receive - 100%
Mailbox attachments less than 30 days will be on online Fiber Channel (FC) storage. Mailbox attachments greater than 30 days will be on nearline Seria ATA (SATA) storage. The nearline storage is also called EmailXtender. Attachments will have a shortcut tag indicating that they are on EmailXtender. Shortcut attachments will be available on Outlook and Outlook Web Access (OWA).
Tracing Email Paths for Bounces, Missing Mail
Inbound Messages Flow:
- Sender - SMTP.UFL.EDU - Barracuda - Exchange Mail Transport Server - Exchange Mailbox Server - Recipient
Outbound Message Flow:
- Sender - Exchange Mailbox Server - Exchange Mail Transport SErver - SMTP.UFL.EDU - Recipient
Internal Server to Server Message Flow:
- Sender - Exchange Mailbox Server - Exchange Mail Transport Server - Exchange Mailbox Server - Recipient
On request, UF Exchange administrators can review the e-mail logs and track a message's path. Traces would reflect Barracuda and Exchange Server logs.
On request, OSG can review the email logs and track a message's path. Traces would reflect SPAMAssassin and SendMail logs (SMTP.UFL.EDU)
